**Role**:
The Learning Specialist -Numeracy Enhancement and Mathematics 7-12 at Truganina Secondary School (interim name) primary focus is to:

- Demonstrate a high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice specifically in numeracy enhancement and secondary school mathematics.
- Model exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons.
- Work with the school leadership team and critical friends to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice that reflects the school’s pedagogical practices
- Lead and model the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
- Work in collaboration with the AP - Curriculum and Pedagogy to lead the implement the school’s Teaching and Learning Framework and common instructional model focussing on numeracy improvement
- Lead the curriculum development across the Mathematics area in line with the Victorian curriculum and DET Initiatives (e.g. FISO 2, Literacy, STEM, HITS frameworks).
- Play a key role in the provision of professional learning, including through developing processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration.
- Mentor and/or coach teachers, which may involve observing, modelling and providing evidence
- based feedback to teachers on their practice.
- Lead and coordinate the diagnostic testing in numeracy of students.
- Model exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
- Be an active participant in the leading of learning and undertake a teaching commitment
- Contribute to the overall management of the school
- The Learning Specialist reports directly to the Principal.

**The Learning Specialist role will commence in Term 1, 2024.**

**Responsibilities**:
In recognition of the importance of exemplary practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:

- Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice
- Modelling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons
- Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice
- Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery
- Playing a key role in the provision of professional learning, including through developing processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration
- Modelling effective learning practice and supporting teachers to seek, analyse and act on feedback and on their practice
- Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development
- Providing expert advice about the context, processes and strategies that will shape individual and school professional learning
- Supervising and training one or more student teachers and mentoring and/or coaching teachers
- Modelling exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches
