Copperfield College has three Learning Specialists (Inclusion) across the college.
Our** Learning Specialists Inclusion **are highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend some time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning but have a range of responsibilities related to Inclusion which will generally be comprised of teaching demonstration lessons, coaching and, with the Inclusive Practices Team, providing professional learning. They also bring their strategic thinking to the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT).
As a **Learning Specialist (**Inclusion**)** the successful applicant will work with a cross-college team of Learning Specialists under the leadership of the Inclusive Practices Leading Teacher as a key member of the Inclusive Practices Team. The team’s role is to support staff to create an aspirational learning environment for students requiring additional support, thereby supporting our values of Collaboration, Inclusiveness and Growth. The team will work to enhance skills, practices and processes that contribute to practice excellence in Inclusion at Copperfield College, including:
- High-quality IEPs
- The Copperfield College Teaching and Learning Framework based on our definition of an Aspirational Learning Environment (see below)
- Targeted interventions through PLT processes
- Coaching and observations
- Preparation for Disability Inclusion Profiles
**Responsibilities**:
In recognition of the importance of exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the Learning Specialist (Inclusion) team may include but are not limited to:
Building Practice Excellence
- Providing expert advice and coaching about potential adjustments for students with additional needs
- Modeling co-development of high-quality IEPs with students and families
- Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice with a focus on Quality Differentiated Teaching Practice
- Modeling exemplary inclusive classroom practice through teaching demonstration lessons and coaching
- Playing a key role in the design and provision of professional learning related to Inclusion on a college wide, small group or individual level
- Managing the induction of new staff and mentors in Copperfield College’s Teaching and Learning Framework as it relates to Inclusion
