Furniture Painting and Restoration Workshop

Redfern, Australia The Bower Reuse and Repair Centres Full time

The Bower is in need of a furniture painter and restorer for workshop facilitation for our short courses of up to 12 students at one time at our Redfern and Parramatta workshop spaces.

The Bower Reuse and Repair Centres have two workshop spaces at Redfern for up to ten students at a time each equipped with workbenches and tools for adult learning of new skills in the DIY and basic carpentry field. All participants are 18 years and over unless a special course is run.

We are in need of furniture painteres and restorers who can undertake workshop facilitation for our courses of 6 hours each on average. All tools and workbenches are provided and maintained by The Bower at our established workshop spaces. The courses are in the evening after work or on the weekends. Some teaching is an advantage but not essential. Good overall knowledge of furniture painting and restoration to teach techniques and/or make basic take-home pieces are the primary requirement. Some on-the-job learning can be provided. This is one of The Bower's DIY courses, to assist in increasing skills and knowledge for the Reuse and Repair sector, as one of our key aims is to divert items from landfill and to create zero waste.

You will be paid at an hourly rate for each course with a facilitator or senior facilitator rate. We can meet the hours you have available for our courses. We actually have courses booked now that we are in need of facilitators for.
