**_ The Opportunity:_**

The Population Health Officer position is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of Council's health promotion initiatives as derived through the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP).

The successful incumbent will have strong skills and experience in designing and delivering health promotion campaigns and initiatives, coupled with a robust understanding of public health theory and practice. The ability to communicate well with diverse groups including community members, internal and external stakeholders will be essential for formulating and implementing quality health prevention initiatives.

Working within a lively, thought provoking and considered team at Hume, incumbents would contribute to a positive culture.

**_ Position Objectives:_**

The Population Health Officer position is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of Councils health promotion initiatives as derived through the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP). Specific objectives of the position include:

- Initiate, design and implement projects that aim to enhance the health and wellbeing outcomes for the Hume community
- Utilise a systems base approach to address the health and wellbeing needs of the Hume community and actively seek opportunities to collaborate with relevant stakeholders
- Support policy development which aims to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the Hume community.

The Population Health Officer will be required to lead one or more of the following portfolios:

- Food and Healthy Eating
- Mental Health
- Physical Activity
- Social Connection and Inclusion

**_ Qualifications, skills, and experience:_**
- Tertiary or higher degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Community Development or relevant field; with relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications with significant experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of health promotion and preventative health.
