An exciting and unique opportunity currently exists for an experienced Laboratory Manager to join our team in Castle Hill. In this role you will be responsible for managing the day to day Rx Laboratory operations, delivering on customer expectations and providing exceptional quality and service to enable the expansion of ZEISS commercial business within the region.

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

- Ensure all staff are adequately trained and skilled to deliver high quality and service standards
- Serve as lead fitter and technical expert in the lab
- Provide customers with advice and expertise as required consistent with all Commercial objectives
- Support growth of the business by regularly visiting customers, promoting ZEISS capabilities and developing and strengthening customer relationships
- Actively support and contribute to the establishment and continuous improvement of current operations systems and procedures that enable ZEISS to meet or exceed customer expectations
- Ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Provide excellence in customer service, and ensure work is manufactured and delivered to the customer within agreed time frames
- Ensure operational objectives relating to service, cost, quality and safety are achieved
- Ensure data and statistical analysis is carried out to reflect the actual performance against the key performance indicators and post and brief results daily to the team
- Work in partnership with the relevant BDR and/or Operations staff to address any customer issues

Key requirements include:

- Demonstrates sound optical lens product knowledge, including quality and fitting requirements
- Previous experience working in an ophthalmic manufacturing environment preferable
- Optical dispensing, mechanic or equivalent qualifications preferable
- Demonstrated experience managing, leading and motivating a large team
- Displays a high level of initiative with a strong focus on internal/external customer service and operational excellence
- Exceptional communication skills with a consultative and inclusive style
- Strong commitment to providing excellent service and high quality production
- Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external customers and build and maintain partnerships with sales and customer service
