**The Opportunity**:
My client is a successful and growing import business based on the north side of Brisbane with seven locations on the eastern seaboard. In business for 50 years, they provide a stable workplace and have experienced substantial growth year on year.

They are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team. You will be provided with room to grow in your career and be mentored by the Finance Controller.

**About You**:

**What you are great at**:
You will have proven experience as an Assistant Accountant within a fast-paced and changing environment. As well as having a complete understanding of the core accounting principles, you will be a strong communicator with great attention to detail.

**Your new role involves**:

- Perform end-of-day, end-of-week, and end-of-month on rostered days; provide financial and administrative support within the finance team; prepare general journals for shipments accounts and produce monthly rebates for debtors or ad hoc reports.
- Manage payroll ready for payment of wages every second fortnight for 80 people; reconcile PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax in accordance with legislative requirements; update approved leave requests in Leave Calendar and payroll system.
- Accounts receivable and payable.
- Complete the day-to-day management of all payment cycle activities, including verifying and reconciling invoices quickly and efficiently; process and verify data is recorded accurately and in a timely fashion.

**What you need to succeed**:

- A qualification in accounting is preferred.
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills plus Xero
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
- Ability to follow procedures.
- Capability to work autonomously.
- A positive attitude all day, every day

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
