Our client is the operator of rail services across the metropolitan Sydney area. They also operate the Rail Operations Centre and are responsible for the maintenance of assets including tracks, trains, signals, overhead wiring, stations and facilities.

The Contracts Officer provides effective and efficient contract administration, including processing monthly claims and invoices through the asset management and financial systems, to ensure that assurance and compliance requirements are met and to support the achievement of technical services and maintenance objectives.

**_KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES_**:

- _
- Manage monthly claims and invoices through the asset management and financial systems, including assessing parts and labour costs and reviewing these against the associated contracts and best market pricing; and actively monitor and assess parts pricing to ensure optimum commercial value is achieved.
- Manage contract variations, the inclusion of new assets and the removal of replaced or assets that have been disposed of and the management of warranty claims and defect liability period costs.
- Review, assess and process payment requests, variations and claims, and invoices, regular budget forecasting and cost reporting to management, negotiation of financial outcomes and obtaining firm prices and/or budget estimates for future works and variations.
- Manage the external service providers to ensure that invoice line items are in accordance with the contract defined specifications and other contract defined business requirements.
- Collate and analyse data, assist with the creation of the monthly spend report, and contribute to the monthly VMC and management financial reporting process
- Assist in the compilation and construction of project scope or contract variations, assist in the quote / tender adjudication and evaluation process and prepare general correspondence in relation to the contract.
- Contribute to the monthly contract performance review of external service providers and contribute to the monthly KPI reporting and then manage the abatement process
- Managing contractor invoice payment queries and liaising with Accounts Payable and contractors to resolve these

**_SELECTION CRITERIA_**
- Tertiary qualifications (Trade Certificate) in relevant discipline or appropriate equivalent experience in lifts and escalators or similar discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in claim and invoice assessment and approval processes.
- Demonstrated experience in a contract officer or similar role.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Sound written and oral communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of, and experience in working with, Maintenance Information Systems.
