The Opal Recycling business have an exciting new opportunity available at our Dry Creek, SA location. As the Business Manager SA you will have direct responsibility for delivering sales and operational strategy within South Australia.

The role has State responsibility to ensure the Sales function, Operations/Customer Service Function and the Commercial Function all work together effectively to deliver seamless supply to our paper mills in Botany, NSW, Maryvale, VIC as well as our export business. The role has state responsibility for the achievement of P&L and Cash objectives.

As the Business Leader for South Australia, the Business Manager SA has OHS&E accountability for all activities within the region.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

- Determining the optimal market strategy and sourcing model to provide the required recycled volume and quality at the lowest possible landed cost
- Agreeing and negotiating commercial and supply terms with customers and managing the ongoing relationships balancing external recycling sales and paper mill supply
- Maintaining and growing the Resource Solutions brokerage model which underpins the Opal group’s waste and recycling service provisions, along with creating value for the Recycling Business Units and other Opal Divisions around closed loop opportunities with targeted Opal customers

The talented person we seek for this key role is ideally degree qualified in a relevant discipline, with previous experience leading a warehouse and distribution team in a high volume, fast-paced environment. You are proactive, organized and meticulous.

You will bring:

- Experience in a leadership role within Recycling industry managing P&L responsibilities
- Additional broader business experience from sales/marketing/branding perspective is value adding to this role
- In depth knowledge of Recycling industry markets, price drivers and dynamics
- Strong negotiating skills including the ability to balance supply deals where the customer can also be a supplier to Opal.
- Ability to structure supply / sales strategy for complex multi customer / supplier environment
- Credibility to deal with people at all levels and display clear integrity in all dealings with a strong focus on the customer needs and service requirements
- A results orientation with a drive for safety, quality, customer service and continuous improvement.
- Ability to identify business improvement opportunities and manage implementation of change including risk management and contingency planning
