**THE OPPORTUNITY**

We have a unique opportunity for a passionate, self-driven, experienced Trades Assistant to join our dynamic team in Laverton. You will be responsible for assisting the mechanics, conducting repairs and maintenance of Kenworth DAF Melbourne Predelivery trucks, the mechanical equipment and for maintaining the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean and tidy condition.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Install and fit out components and parts as supplied from parts or suppliers.
- Prepare and use pneumatic, hand and electric tooling equipment and machinery.
- General knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare regulations.
- Ability to work both autonomously, as well as within a team and follow safety procedures and policies.
- Ensure compliance required with personal protective equipment.
- Participate in improving workplace productivity and perform assigned tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Contribute to workplace relationships and processes.
- When appropriate, assist in the training of apprentices and other employees in the workshop.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Good Mechanical Aptitude, with tool handling experience/skills.
- Productivity, efficiency, and high attention to detail are strongly desirable.
- Verbal and written English skills and good written and communication skills are required.
- Familiar with assembly work and vehicle industry experience is desirable.
- Ability to complete high-quality work unsupervised and perform tasks within shoulder to waist height.
- Cummins and MX PACCAR /DAF engine knowledge.
- Capability to use hand, power assisted and pneumatic tools.
- Commitment to correct OH&S practices.
