The major urban centre of Lithgow nestles in a valley of that name, overlooked by the sandstone escarpments of the Blue Mountains. In the addition to the major urban centre of Lithgow, the Lithgow local government area has 12 villages with mining or farming backgrounds. These smaller centres have proven to be a attractive rural residential areas which, along with the broader rural areas offer a truly unique lifestyle that harmonises its urban, industrial and rural qualities.

Lithgow Council is firmly committed to broadening and growing the local economy to offset the disruption that will result from a reduced level of mining and power generation. Leading edge research has been undertaken to inform the broad set of actions that will be required. The final report from that research is the Lithgow Emerging Economy Plan 2023 (**LEEP**).

**The Opportunity**:
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a goal oriented and innovative professional to join the organisation as the **Manager - Enterprise and Economy. **This is a dynamic role, coordinating one of the first significant community transformations arising from global de-carbonisation efforts in an Australian context. This is a rare opportunity for the right person to implement a leading-practice response to a global challenge at a regional level.

To be successful in the role you will meet all the essential selection criteria and have acquired a Tertiary qualifications or substantial job-related experience in one or more of economics, economic development, business or a related field, land use planning, education, or transitions management and a demonstrated commitment to driving positive change in the socio-economic circumstances of communities.

Your excellent interpersonal and well developed communication and analytical skills will also be vital to your success in this role, as they allow consultative communication practices with both colleagues and the community as a whole, while represent the corporate values and ethics of the Council. Additionally, you'll need to display initiative and be self-motivated, allowing you to work both independently and as part of a team
