**About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission**
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent

agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and

services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in

Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and

Accountability Act 2013.

**The NDIS Commission’s core legislative functions are to**:

- uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of, people with

disability receiving supports or services, including those received under the

National Disability Insurance Scheme
- develop a nationally consistent approach to managing quality and safeguards for

people with disability receiving supports or services, including those received under

the National Disability Insurance Scheme
- promote the provision of advice, information, education and training to NDIS

providers and people with disability
- secure compliance with relevant legislation through effective compliance and

enforcement arrangements, including through the monitoring and investigation

functions conferred on the Commissioner by legislation
- promote continuous improvement amongst NDIS providers and the delivery of

progressively higher standards of supports and services to people with disability
- develop and oversee the broad policy design for a nationally consistent framework

relating to the screening of workers involved in the provision of supports and

services to people with disability
- provide advice or recommendations to the National Disability Insurance Agency

(NDIA) and its Board in relation to the performance of the Agency’s functions
- engage in, promote and coordinate the sharing of information to achieve the

objects of the relevant legislation, and
- provide NDIS market oversight, including:
i. by monitoring changes in the NDIS market which may indicate emerging

risk; and

ii. by monitoring and mitigating the risks of unplanned service withdrawal.

**Communications and Engagement Branch**
The Communications and Engagement Branch ensures NDIS Commission messaging is

coordinated, coherent and consistent and highlights rich shared stories which underpin a

culture of inclusion. We create compelling co-designed content and use a variety of

methods to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, including participants, providers,

workers, advocates and NDIS Commission employees. Our primary goal is to uplift the

capability of the disability sector by increasing awareness of the rights of participants and

the obligations of providers and workers.

The Communications and Engagement Branch is made up of 3 teams - content,

engagement and channels. Our goal is to educate and engage the disability sector on key

NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission 3

issues through easy and informative content, an accessible and user-friendly focus on our

website and social channels as well as consultations with participants and their support

networks such as providers, workers and carers. We bring a proactive and collaborative

approach to all communications and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

The Channels team is a vital part of the Commission, and is a main point of contact for our
stakeholders who require information. We consult with internal and external
stakeholders.

**Key duties**

The key duties of the position are:

- Define the user experience/user interface of owned digital channels to reflect the

statutory responsibilities of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and help
to uplift the capability of the sector by increasing awareness of both the rights of
Participants and the obligations of Providers and Workers.
- Translate concepts into user flows and prototypes that meet the varied needs of all

NDIS Commission audiences. This includes planning and conducting user testing of
prototypes and iterating designs based on findings.
