**About the School**: Drayton State School is proudly the oldest continuing state school in Queensland. It has a mix of experienced and early career staff who enjoy working and learning together. Staff are committed to meeting the needs of all students through strong curriculum and pedagogical practices and focused analysis of student progress, all within the context of a supportive school and community environment on the edge of Toowoomba.

In 2024, Drayton State School will continue to embed the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence framework. This will allow the school to continue to set the improvement priorities, leading up to 2026 where we will turn 175 years old All staff will contribute to this exciting journey as we continue to ensure every student achieves success.
**Your Opportunity**:
- Drayton State School is a strong adopter of Positive Behaviour for Learning. The Deputy Principal at Drayton State School is responsible for whole of school coordination, implementation and professional learning of our Positive Behaviour for Learning approach. The Deputy Principal brings expert technical skills to lead or oversee the Tier I, Classroom Problem Solving, Tier II and Tier III teams to support all students in achieving success, involving strategic collegial engagement with a variety of stakeholders. The Deputy Principal oversees the focus area of Engagement and Wellbeing (in line with the Annual Implementation Plan and Equity and Excellence)
- The Deputy Principal leads and/or supports initiatives including Teach Like a Champion and High Performing Teams as part of the 'ways we do business' at Drayton State School.
- The Deputy Principal line manages teaching staff.
- Furthermore, the Deputy Principal assists in the daily organisation and management of the school. This includes coordination of teacher release, teacher replacement, timetabling and rostered duty officer responsibilities, including but not limited to responding to emerging student wellbeing/behaviour needs and performing daily check-ins to students and/or their families.
**About the Role**:
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
