**Position Information**:
Plumpton House School sits on the land of the Dharug people in the western suburbs of Sydney. The school has an enrolment of 42 students, which includes 50% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students who are supported by an Aboriginal Education Officer. The school is comprised of six classes. An additional class will be established in 2024.

We are an inclusive School for Specific Purposes (SSP), supporting students with complex behavioural/emotional needs. Plumpton House School is committed to providing students with an educational environment where they are supported to thrive academically, develop good physical, mental and emotional health, and gain the skills to live fulfilling, independent lives post-school.

The school has established a positive and inclusive culture, with comprehensive wellbeing strategies and programs that are driven by a whole-school, trauma-responsive, student-centred approach.Strong community and equity programs are available to meet the complex needs of students and families.

A balanced, comprehensive curriculum catering to differences in achievement and ability is provided to students. Effective literacy and numeracy programs are complemented by co-curricular priorities in the Arts, sports, and vocational skills programs, delivered on-site and through community access programs.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching special education to improve the learning outcomes of students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and complex behaviours.
- Demonstrated ability to lead whole-school programs and initiatives that enhance student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
- Proven experience in leading learning and support processes including case management to improve learning and engagement outcomes for students.
- Evidence of highly visible and approachable leadership with a proven ability to work collaboratively with the leadership team and student families to support students with complex learning and support needs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
