**About the role**

We are seeking a motivated and experienced collection management professional to work across the City of Ballarat Heritage Collections. The position is responsible for the effective management of the Collections including identification, cataloguing, loans, significance assessments, valuation process and documentation.

The successful applicant will contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that will ensure Heritage Collections including objects on loan are cared for and preserved, recorded and insured to national cultural collection industry standards. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a Vernon database of the Heritage Collections and making recommendations on future use, interpretation and storage of the Heritage Collections.

**About you**
- Tertiary qualifications in Museum Studies
- Relevant experience in managing complex public collections.
- Excellent understanding of conservation, storage and digitisation requirements for public collections.
- Demonstrated experience of collection management databases and registration methods, in particular Vernon.
- Demonstrated research, writing and organisational skills.
- Well developed project management skills including developing briefs, scheduling and meeting deadlines.
- Well developed communication skills, especially the ability to build rapport and establish mutually beneficial outcomes when working with a range of stakeholders.

This is a full time role on a maximum term contract until May 2026.
