**The Role**

Challenge Community Services is looking for dedicated and passionate part-time and casual Mental Health Support Workers to join our team based at Ripley, Queensland.

These roles work closely with people with varying mental health and disability needs in our Accommodation sites, providing around the clock support to people who are not able to live by themselves. Clients are assisted with social, medical, personal care and day-to-day needs.

**Our client is wanting to work with male support workers and First Nations people are encouraged to apply.**

**About Your New Role**
- Are you passionate about supporting clients with disabilities / mental health and advancing and empowering the lives of others.
- Are you compassionate and demonstrates empathy.
- Are you able to handle complex or challenging situations calmly and rationally.

**Essential Selection Criteria**
- Strong communication skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with clients to actively support individual needs.
- Resilience, self-confidence and willingness to engage clients with various backgrounds and needs.
- Experience in dealing with complex trauma
- Experience in working with Mental Health Clients and dealing with challenging behaviours.
- Ability to prioritise and demonstrate problem solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to work shift work, regular sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite particularly MS Word and MS Outlook.
- Current valid Unrestricted Australian Driver's License or Provisional Driver's Licence.
- Current Blue Card or the willingness to obtain.
- NDIS Workers screening Check, or willing to obtain.
- Ability to pass a National Criminal History Check.
- COVID 19 Vaccinations status including booster
- Pre Employment Assessment including a drug screen
- Mental Health First Aid
- Current First Aid Certificate

**Desirable Criteria**
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or equivalent.
- Experience with high needs Disability clients
- Demonstrated understanding in the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) processes.
