**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Position Summary
Catholic College Wodonga has a twelve-month traineeship providing support to teaching staff in the
implementation and execution of the school’s sport programs throughout 2024. Responsibilities of
the role will include the planning and preparation of school sporting events, facilitating sport team
meetings, and assisting with coaching of sports teams. Applicants must have a high level of verbal
and written communication and understand the importance of planning and administration. The
ability to self-manage and a versatile knowledge of various sports is essential for this role. The
successful applicant will complete a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation through AFL Sports Ready.
Child Safety - Be familiar with and comply with the school’s child-safe policy and code
of conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child safety.
- Assist in the provision of a child-safe environment for all students.
- Demonstrate duty of care to students in relation to their physical and

mental wellbeing
- Understanding of and commitment to Child Safe Standards.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities This trainee works closely with the Sport & Recreation Coordinator to
promote the important role of sporting and recreational activities in physical
and mental wellbeing.

- Have a versatile sporting background.
- Be proactive in making suggestions about what sport and recreation

programs/services may be offered to students as extra-curricular
activities.
- Work with the Sport & Recreation Coordinator to plan and run a variety of

lunchtime sport and recreation activities that cater for the diversity and
interests of students.

Key Accountabilities - Be able to locate, organise and prepare resources for upcoming class
- lessons.
- Provide classroom support for all year levels as required.
- Model SWPBS and classroom expectations
- Participate in excursions (both day excursions and overnight) and camps.
- Assist in the selection and coaching of school sporting teams.
- Assist the Sports & Recreation Coordinator in advertising sporting

achievements in College publications such as the newsletter.
- Assisting in the organisation of the College sports carnivals.
- Assist classroom teachers in the Health and PE Learning Area where

required.
- Preparation of excursion forms and documentation for upcoming sporting

events.

Certificate
Qualification
- Completion of academic work that is aligned to the role within the given

time frame. This may occur during:

- Selected times during school hours
- Additional times out or school hours
- Regular online or face to face supervisor meetings
- Attend a Trainee Development Program Camp

**SALARY**

$21,500 - $30,000 plus 11% Superannuation
- National Training Wage Award
- Fully Funded Qualification

**MORE INFORMATION**
- People with tertiary qualifications need not apply. Current university applicants may have to defer their studies to be eligible for this traineeship.
- This position is best suited to a recent secondary school leaver.
