**A little bit about us**

The Strategy, Economic Policy and Evaluation Branch is the central policy hub within the Department. It provides evidence-based advice to ministers and the Department’s Senior Executive on the government’s priority policy issues.

The Branch is also responsible for First Nations policy issues, through coordination, reporting and alignment of the department’s First Nations commitments, and supporting the department to actively consider First Nations peoples and voices in all aspects of its work. In 2023, the Branch will also take the lead on the department’s next evaluation strategy.

The breadth of the Branch’s responsibilities means that it is engaged on a wide range of contemporary policy issues.

**The opportunity we have available**

We are a multi-disciplinary policy team and have multiple vacancies for policy advisers at the APS5, APS6 and EL1 levels. This opportunity would suit any applicant with strong problem solving and communication skills. As a multi-disciplinary team we welcome a wide range of skillsets including but not limited to public policy, economics, law, data analysis and any field with strong research skills.

**What will you do?**

You will contribute to developing policy advice to Government through short-medium term projects determined by the Department’s Executive Leadership Team. Those in the First Nations policy coordination team also work directly with the Senior Executive on First Nations commitments such as the Closing the Gap Strategy and the department’s Reconciliation Action Plan.

These roles are varied and dynamic, but typical duties include:
- Research and analysis on priority issues (including general research or economic and data analysis, depending on your skills and experience)-
- Development of persuasive communications materials, including written reports and data visualisation-
- Project strategy, planning and coordination-
- Stakeholder engagement, including close collaboration with colleagues across the public service to ensure our advice has maximum value-add-
