Our role sits within the **Strategic Infrastructure Planning **department which is charged with the responsibility to produce and manage the implementation of strategic infrastructure planning and policy frameworks, integrated infrastructure network strategies, plans and projects and the development and amendment the Local Government Infrastructure Plan.

As a lead specialist within the **Strategic Infrastructure Planning **team you will lead key infrastructure policy initiatives in collaborative projects such as; Council’s planning scheme, regional infrastructure planning framework and integration of land use and infrastructure planning to support the growth and resilience of our city.

**About our opportunity**

As our **Specialist Infrastructure Planner - Policy,** you will provide specialist infrastructure planning expertise, in the development of infrastructure planning strategy and policy matters for the Infrastructure Planning Directorate and to support Council’s land use and infrastructure planning programs.

As a part of your role you will be a technical leader and have the opportunity to:

- provide technical oversight and direction to the Directorate in the development of infrastructure planning strategy and policy and to drive integrated and sustainable outcomes, including into a local government planning scheme.
- offer expert advice on infrastructure planning in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements.
- lead the development of complex infrastructure planning policy matters across the Directorate and coordinate their integration to achieve strategic and business outcomes.
- contribute towards the development and review of annual budgets (capital and operational), operational plans and other business planning activities such as long term prioritising of infrastructure investment.

**About you**

We are seeking someone who has extensive knowledge of infrastructure solutions, urban form and sustainability principles including the ability to develop policy and assessment benchmarks incorporating these principles.

Key skills you will bring to the role:

- strategic land use planning processes, including the Planning Act 2016, SEQ Regional Plan, Council planning schemes and plan-making, local laws and policies.
- experience in providing strategic advice and direction in uncertain or emergent circumstances and in a rapidly changing policy environment.
- substantial experience in infrastructure project management and associated risk management practices.
- experience in strategic level infrastructure demand and cost apportionment.

**_You will have a Degree in Urban Planning or equivalent._**
