St Joseph's Primary School, Charlestown aims to provide quality Catholic education by creating a learning community committed to ensuring every child is given the opportunity to achieve their very best within the classroom. The school’s unique lush bush setting provides a stimulating environment for children to learn and play and gives them the opportunity to develop an awareness and appreciation of the environment. The school is purpose-built to facilitate team teaching and gives teachers the opportunity to work collaboratively in their planning and delivery of learning. The recent refurbishment of existing facilities means the school community is equipped with modern and engaging learning environments to allow the delivery of a comprehensive curriculum. The large open plan classrooms are equipped with interactive SMART boards, iPads, laptops and wireless internet to deliver a contemporary learning approach and help students with learning difficulties

Learning Support Assistants (LSA) in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of supporting teachers in ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live a purposeful life.
- Supported by the Catholic community, of which they are a vital part, LSAs support teachers in inviting students and their families into a faith-filled educational experience
- LSAs support the promotion of the school as a place of learning and excellence where creativity and curiosity are nurtured and students are connected with their world through deep learning and engagement
- Under the direction of teachers, LSAs provide support and assistance in school routines; classroom activities; and the care and support of students with disability.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
**EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA**
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools
- Experience working with students with disability (K-12)
- Demonstrated ability to work under the direction of a teacher, and in collaboration with school staff, CSO staff, and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to effectively administer assessments, and deliver interventions, under the direction of a teacher
- Demonstrated ability to implement adjustments required for individual students and groups of students
- Experience in supporting student enrolment and transitions, under the direction of a teacher
- Knowledge about the relevant Disability legislation and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
- Evidence of excellent organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
- Completion of anaphylaxis training
- Certificate III or IV in School Based Education Support / or experience in schools (Desirable)

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
