**About the role**:
The primary focus of the position is to provide technical scientific support to Parks Victoria with a strong emphasis on botany and flora ecology. The position will provide scientific and technical advice to staff across the organisation, take a lead role in the development and implementation of environmental research and monitoring projects and programs, communication of research and monitoring outcomes and incorporation of findings into park management. You will work with planning and operational staff across the state and collaborate with external research partners and students to establish and implement applied research and monitoring projects that address important knowledge gaps and help improve conservation efforts.

**We're looking for someone with**:

- A post-graduate degree in botany, ecology, environmental science or environmental management with strong expertise in flora ecology, plant conservation and/or landscape ecology
- Demonstrated experience and high-level understanding of the design and implementation of fieldbased environmental research and monitoring programs, data management and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret scientific information (including critical review of technical literature, as well as the outcomes of research and monitoring projects) and to understand and communicate their implications for environmental management to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated understanding of Victoria's ecosystems and of conservation and environmental management.
- Demonstrated ability to build networks and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently.
- Ability to work within strict time and budgets constraints and to work flexibly across a range of concurrent projects.
