**THE COMPANY**
Our client is a leader in the field of Chemical blending and packaging. They manufacture across several operational sites, which involve production, machine operation, blending and batching of chemicals, packaging and end-to-end supply chain services across Australia and New Zealand.

**THE ROLE**
Due to growth within the business, they are currently looking for an experienced purchasing officer to join their busy team in the western suburbs of Melbourne. To be successful in this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of production planning, manufacturing lead times, production capacity and limitations.

Reporting to the National Business Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining and replenishing inventory levels in addition to working with all departments across the business.

**_Key responsibilities include:_**
- Actively source and purchase goods for production and manufacturing
- Negotiate with vendors to ensure the best price, quality, and delivery terms.
- Maintaining accurate records of purchase and inventory.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
- Ensuring that company policies and procedures are met.
- Participating and developing new purchasing strategies and procedures

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- 2 years previous experience in procurement purchasing or demand planning.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be ideal (but not essential)
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Administration and data entry experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (importantly Excel)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Engage with stakeholders both internal and external
- Strong problem-solving skills.
