Maintenance services provided by Joint Logistics Command play a significant role in supporting Australian Defence Force units preparing for and returning from operations and exercises. Our services will help ensure the availability and safe working order of Defence assets.
The contract includes repair and maintenance of some of Australia's newest and most advanced equipment including surveillance systems, marine craft, light armoured vehicles, and protected mobility vehicles. It also includes operation of a 24/7 nationwide vehicle and equipment recovery service.

**Purpose of this role**:
Based at Edinburgh RAAF Base in Edinburgh, South Australia the Technical Supervisor is responsible for managing the service delivery and performance of the Trades Maintenance Teams. This will include leadership and supervision of tradespeople to achieve maintenance outcomes for performance, quality, compliance, and safety. The ability to build and develop teams, provide technical support, and identify training gaps will be essential. You will coordinate and prioritise maintenance workflows for work group no larger than 10 trades, working closely with the Site Manager and Planning team to execute as per the accepted maintenance schedule.

A key element of success will include working as an integrated team, within the region and with the Commonwealth.

Whilst hands on when required, this role does have a significant compliance and quality assurance expectation and will include managing technical inspections and the auditing of maintenance tasks, including team performance in relation to our contractual obligations. In addition, you will liaise with Schedulers to ensure compliance to overall maintenance plan and inspect technical maintenance and identify where additional quality or independent inspections and checks are required, investigate material defects and report on unsatisfactory material.

**Key selection criteria**:

- Relevant Trade Certificate IV to the Contractor, or experience as agreed by the Commonwealth Representative.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership of a maintenance team, technical investigation, quality audits and technical inspections.
- Experience in the use of maintenance management software systems for coordinating and planning tasks in a maintenance environment.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to coach & lead work teams.
- Sound understanding of work, health and safety, security, and environmental obligations in an industrial/maintenance environment to ensure compliance to legislative requirements.
- Thorough understanding of the contract requirements and exemplary customer service ethic.
- Ability to analyze and exercise sound judgement and coordinate multiple work projects.
- Ability to identify, instigate and promote change.
- Possess a current Australian open driver license for C class of vehicles (manual).

**Primary Accountabilities**:

- Allocate Maintenance tasks to appropriately qualified and competent employees.
- Support and provide direction to technical employees relating to technical procedures and compliance with the associated work standards.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with the Ventia DMC (Defence Maintenance Contract) Management team to develop and maintain effective working procedures.
- Operate as part of an integrated team, within the Region and with the Commonwealth
- Ensure compliance with Ventia and contract specific quality assurance and safety programs.
- Lead and provide development and training support to technical employees. This includes identifying training gaps and reporting to the Site Manager.
- Inspect technical Maintenance and identify where additional quality or independent inspections and checks are required, and the coordination of such.
- Ensure technical Maintenance tasks are correctly and progressively documented in job records and in the Maintenance Management System
- Investigate material defects and report on unsatisfactory.
- Analyse and report on overdue work orders
- Support and supervise Members from the Commonwealth in workshops.
- Perform additional work-related responsibilities as requested, such as first aid attendant, safety committee representative, fire team representative, and member of a business improvement team (or any combination of these);
