VPS6 Manager Role - Full Time/Fixed Term for 3 year period
The School Asset Assessments Unit supports schools to understand their asset condition and maintenance requirements. This includes managing the Rolling Facilities Evaluation (RFE) program, a five-yearly assessments of the condition of school buildings and other infrastructure; the associated Specialist Assessment program, a more detailed assessment of potential defects where the cause and extent of the issue are unable to be determined through the RFE; and Shelter in Place (SIP) assessments for schools on the Bushfire At Risk Register.
These programs inform both maintenance planning and activities done at the school level, but also recommendations for investment and other action made at the portfolio level to respond to the issue. This is also an important part in strengthening the asset management system in Victorian government schools and ensuring schools and the Department are equipped with key information to enable strong outcomes to be achieved.

**The Manager, School Asset Assessments Unit is responsible for**:

- Managing a team including setting clear roles and responsibilities for staff, supporting staff to achieve these responsibilities, performance development and performance management as required.
- Setting the strategic direction of the team, including business planning and prioritisation activities to ensure key goals of the organisation can be achieved.
- Managing key projects relating to the Asset Management Reform program, including the Rolling Facilities Evaluation and Specialist Assessments, which provides detailed information on the condition of school assets and any defects or issues that may exist.
- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders in order to manage risks and resolve issues.
- Planning and implementing effective change management practices to ensure the successful rollout of asset management reform initiatives.
- The provision of expert and informed advice to key internal and external stakeholders, including the Minister's Office and VSBA Executive team.
- Leading the team in adopting the new Asset Information Management System (AIMS) to undertake their work.
- To act as a ‘thought leader' for the VSBA and help shape policy creation and development.
- Taking a leadership role in the development of a positive and collaborative work culture across the Branch.
- Supporting the Director to achieve Branch goals as required.
