The Manager Works is responsible for managing the delivery of a wide range of infrastructure projects and services to the Kingborough community. Reporting to the Director Engineering Services, you will be responsible for the management of Council’s work program including road maintenance and construction, parks and reserves, and plant and fleet. Ideally you will have a supervisory background in civil construction, with significant civil works experience in road construction and maintenance.

You will have demonstrated project management experience and well-developed communication and negotiation skills. The role requires high level people management skills and the ability to build and maintain a positive workforce culture.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated including the private use of a motor vehicle, 12.5% superannuation and a nine-day working fortnight. The role is being offered on a full-time contract basis.

**Essential**
- Demonstrated senior level experience in civil works and construction, in particular significant experience in road construction and maintenance.
- A practical understanding of relevant legislation and Australian Standard requirements in relation to civil construction and maintenance.
- Highly developed communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated people management experience and the ability to develop a strong performance culture and foster a positive working environment.
- Demonstrated project management experience and knowledge of project cost estimating, budget preparation and financial management.
- Proven problem-solving ability and the ability to successfully manage complex projects within set timeframes.
- Well-developed time management skills, capacity to plan, organise and meet changing priorities and objectives.
- Competent knowledge of WH&S and risk management practices in a local government environment.

**Licences**

1. Current unrestricted manual driver’s licence.

2. White Card, Working Safely in the Construction Industry.

**Desirable**
- Vocational or tertiary qualifications relevant to the civil construction industry.
- Knowledge of local government operations, structure and services, programs, policies and/or activities from a road and maintenance perspective.
