- **Band 6 Salary from $41.97 - $45.33 per hour plus superannuation***

In this newly created role as Business Events Development Officer, you will play an integral part in reconvening and reinvigorating business events held within Ballarat and surrounds. Working closely with the Coordinator Sustainable Destination Development, you will assist in the delivery of a Business Events Sales Strategy aligned to the Tourism Midwest Victoria Sustainable Destination Management Plan to increase domestic and international business events, groups and incentive travel held within the region.

With a focus on business development this position will be the facilitator of lead generation through successful relationship building via the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) markets.

**Overview of role**:

**Essential experience and attributes**:

- Tertiary qualifications in tourism, marketing or related field with relevant sales experience or less formal qualifications with substantial sales experience in the field of specialist expertise.
- Proven experience in a sales-orientated role within the MICE industry, you will possess an understanding of these key markets and how to leverage these to achieve sales targets.
- Thorough knowledge of the Australian domestic and international tourism industry structure and the MICE industry, its stakeholders and contemporary issues.
- Ability to coordinate and represent the region at conferences and business events, groups marketing, incentive travel and international travel tradeshows and familiarisations.
- Demonstrated success in the ability to identify business opportunities in every interaction including non-traditional channels to generate lead opportunities in the MICE industry, outlining successful increased sales in a similar position.
- Highly developed project management and planning skills.
- Excellent Analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to communicate to a wide variety of stakeholders and build meaningful business relationships.
- Self-motivated and focused with effective relationship management, communication, presentation and persuasion skills; ability to work autonomously as part of a small team.
- Ability to identify emerging trends and develop new sales initiatives to drive lead conversion across the MICE markets.
