**Role**:
**Design Technician** - is responsible for supporting teaching and learning in the** Design** Department through the management and maintenance of materials, tools, equipment and teaching spaces. The **technician** reports to Design Teaching staff.
- **Metal Working Skills**: The ability to cut and prepare metal.
- **Woodworking Skills**: Basic joinery skills and the ability to use woodworking equipment such as bandsaw, radial arm saw, plane etc

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instructions.
- Provide basic physical and emotional care for students.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils in playgrounds, at camps, on excursions, in sporting activities, therapy activities and life skills.
- Assist in the preparation of student resources and equipment.
- Prepare basic curriculum support resources.
- Set up and put away equipment and materials in support of teaching programs.
- Observe students and draw the attention of the teacher to them where necessary.
- Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and evaluation of individual student involvement and achievement.
- Assist in the translation of documents.
- Ensure work areas and materials, equipment and appliances are maintained in a clean and ready to use condition.
- Assist in the preparation of equipment and purchasing of materials and supplies as required.

**Location Profile**:
Mount Eliza Secondary is a medium sized secondary college with three principal class officers, forty six EFT teachers and eighteen Education Support Staff. We also further developed Hands on Learning to support students at risk and to enable the development of a truly personalized and relevant approach to learning. With the developments that also occurred in our VCAL and PACE programs, our connections to the local community have increased enormously, enabling our students to learn in an environment whereby they are truly making a difference to the lives of others.
