ORIMA Research is a private Australian-owned professional services firm that provides market and social research, data analytics, organisational performance improvement and related advisory services. We are a genuine public sector research specialist, whereby over 90% of our clients are in the government sector. Established in 1996, we now have around 70 professional staff working across four offices in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane as well as a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Field Force of over 35 interviewers spread throughout Australia.

This position provides a unique opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates to gain experience in research consultancy as a part of our specialist First Nations Research Division.

Due to growth, we have a wonderful opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our specialist First Nations Research Division. ORIMA Research is committed to training, developing, and providing pathways for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, and this position is an ideal opportunity for a graduate level researcher to be trained for a career as a research consultant.

No previous research experience is required. Our graduate program provides the opportunity and support to learn and develop social research skills, as well as the technical and non-technical skills required for a successful career in the research consulting industry.

We have a dedicated First Nations Research Division which is made up of experienced researchers who work alongside ORIMA Research’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Principal Advisor, N’arweet Dr Carolyn Briggs, Elder and Traditional Owner, as well as our team of First Nations Community Interviewers.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
To be considered for this role you must meet the following selection criteria:

- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area (e.g. psychology, social sciences, market research, marketing and communications, law, arts, commerce, economics)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of organisational and time management skills
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude
- Demonstrated interest in the public sector and / or social research

The following **are desirable **but** **not essential:

- Knowledge, connection, and experiences with diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to conduct culturally informed and appropriate research
- An understanding of the public sector environment or an interest and willingness to learn about the sector
- Exposure to focus groups or moderation / facilitation - you may have participated in market research or other group facilitation activities
