We are looking for a Superintendent Geotechnical Design to support the Geosciences Team in the design, planning and execution of Life of Mine Geotechnical Study programs for Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor - Geotechnical and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Geotechnical Design team, you will be:

- Planning, organising, and managing all Life of Mine geotechnical ore body knowledge programs including rock mass classification (core logging and face mapping), intact rock strength testing and stress measurements.
- Managing and directing programs for obtaining rock mass and structural material properties for geotechnical analysis and mine input into mine design.
- Providing Geotechnical design criteria and input into the Life of Mine design process.
- Working closely with other technical and engineering disciplines to develop and implement best practise guidelines in geotechnical engineering, mine design and for purposes of the Life of Mine studies.
- Leading and managing geotechnical analysis work conducted by various consultants.
- Conducting geotechnical analysis inclusive of numerical modelling.
- Taking part in internal and external review and assurance processes.
- Study phase ground support assessments.
- Supporting Oyu Tolgoi site by providing input into Ground Control Management Plan, Strategic Mine Planning and operating procedures for all geotechnical activities and quality assurance / quality control practices.
- Leading and mentoring a small team of Geotechnical Engineers.

**What you’ll bring**
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Geology. Postgraduate degree is an added advantage.
- At least 7-10 years geotechnical experience in deep and high stress underground mining operations and/or Projects, and/or Life of Mine Studies. Experience in Block Caving will be advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and managing ore body knowledge campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience in numerical modelling, interpretation of results and communication of risks and opportunities.
- Experience with underground mine development processes, specifically cave development and construction.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including an ability to build relationships with both internal stakeholders and external consultants.
- Excellent writing skills, attention to detail and an ability to problem solve.
- Exceptional communication skills giving clear recommendations and communications aimed at the right level.
