**About Scope**

Scope’s purpose is to create meaningful opportunities for people with disability to belong and thrive. We support people with physical, intellectual and multiple disabilities and developmental delays to achieve their goals Scope is a registered provider under the NDIS and delivers a range of services including supported independent living, short term accommodation (respite), lifestyle options and therapy across 100 locations in Victoria.

**What is Communication Access?**

"_Communication access occurs when people are respectful and responsive to individuals with communication difficulties, and when strategies and resources are used to support successful communication._” (Johnson, West, Solarsh, Wyllie & Morey, 2013, p.7).

Our purpose at Scope's Communication and Inclusion Resource Centre (CIRC) is to create more inclusive and accessible communities for people who experience a range of communication difficulties. We work with businesses to award Scope’s Communication Access Symbol ensuring the business provides goods and services to meet Communication Access Standards.

**About The Role**
- Two fantastic opportunities available ( 1 x FT, 1 PT or 2 x PT) for Accessible Information Writers (aka Content Writers) to translate complex written information into Easy English and plain language, in-line with our best-practice standards
- Complete customer work from onboarding, service delivery, billing and quality assurance
- Conduct consumer testing sessions with people with a lived experience of low literacy and provide support as required
- Provide information, advice and consultancy to internal and external customers
- Direct appropriate image selection for Easy English documents.

**About You**
- You will be a strong advocate for the rights of people with low literacy, including people with intellectual disability.
- You truly believe in our mission
- Tertiary qualifications in writing, editing or other relevant communications field
- Demonstrated experience in the production of quality communications that meet the needs of identified audiences

**Requirements**:
To be considered for this role, you must provide the following:

- Satisfactory Working With Children's Check (Employee)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance
- Proof of 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with Scope policy
- Valid Australian Working Rights and an International Police Check if you have lived or worked overseas for more than one (1) year within the last ten years
