**About the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Department/Service. The position holder is responsible for the provision or laboratory testing including serology and molecular assays for infectious diseases, which include supporting research and development of tests used in public health surveillance and innovative delivery of pathology services. The position holder will assist research involving surveillance of infection rates for populations affected by HIV and related blood borne viruses through the adaption of diagnostic nucleic and serology methods using a variety of biological samples, including dried blood spots. Duties will include managing project logistics, performing assays, management of laboratory consumables and facilities in accordance with the project.

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Appropriate tertiary qualification in a scientific or technical field relevant to the practice of pathology
3. Effective communication (written and spoken) including excellent time management and organisational skills, logistics management and effective record keeping, negotiation and interpersonal skills and ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
4. Ability to be flexible and adapt to work practices to suit circumstances
5. Developed desktop publishing, preparation of reports, basic database management and descriptive statistical skills
6. Clinical laboratory or public health research experience preferably in the field of infectious diseases
7. Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) processes relevant to a healthcare laboratory setting
