**Your new role**

Reporting to the Director, the Executive Officer (EO) provides a high level of advice and support to assist the Director to address the complexities of their role and to achieve the strategic and operational objectives in line with the Community Vision and Council Plan.

The position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day communications and operations of the directorate ensuring effective relationships and partnerships are established and maintained with Councillors, Executive, the organisation, other levels of government, and the community.

The Directorate consists of Statutory Planning and Building functions, Strategic & Infrastructure Planning, Infrastructure Services, Climate Change & Sustainability and Infrastructure Projects.

**Summary of Responsibilities & Accountabilities**
- Responsible for managing the Office of the Director by ensuring day to day operations and procedures are organised, correspondences are controlled, properly assigned, and monitored.
- Responsible for managing key communications for the Office of the Director including writing, editing, and distribution of content, including publications, presentations, website content, social media content, performance reports, speeches, and other material that communicates the directorate's activities, products and/or services.
- Drive the development of the Business Support Officer to ensure it meets organisational needs.
- Support the Business Support Officer to provide high administrative support to the Director Planning and Infrastructure.
- Responsible for developing and implementing office policies by setting up procedures and standards to guide the operation of the office.
- Lead, research, plan and participate in and support a diverse range of projects, including initiatives that foster stronger partnerships with other directorates, levels of government and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate Directorate business performance reporting including monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
- Ensure top performance of business support staff by providing them adequate coaching, training and guidance

**Position Description**: Executive Officer**What you'll need to succeed**
- Demonstrated experience leading a high performing executive office.
- Experience in local government or other complex and/or political organisations is desirable
- Tertiary qualification in Management, Business or Local Government.
- Experience in leading others
- Demonstrated political acumen, tact, and diplomacy in the achievement of outcomes; judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential or complex matters.
- Skilled in communicating complex topics to a variety of stakeholders and customers.
- Demonstrated experience in working both in a team environment and autonomously to achieve collective success.
