**The opportunity**:
We have an opportunity for a Cardiac Imaging Consultant to join our Cardiometabolic Health and Exercise Physiology laboratory.

This position sits within our Clinical Domain and the position holder will be primarily responsible for providing oversight of routine cardiac services, interaction with research patients, rigorous attention to detail, working within tight schedules and deadline driven as well as the capacity to self-manage and work well in a team environment.

The Cardiometabolic Health and Exercise Physiology laboratory in conjunction with the imaging core use imaging techniques to identify the risk of developing various cardiac diseases, including heart failure and coronary disease. Our work is based on a rich clinical experience and seeks to provide data and resources to optimise cardiovascular disease management in community and clinical settings.

**Key duties**:
In this role you will be expected to:

- Conduct cardiac imaging (echo and MRI) reporting in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Participate in a regular reporting roster of echocardiography and cardiac MRI (both research and clinical studies).
- Work collaboratively with cardiologists within the institute assisting with routine cardiac services at the Institute.
- Participate in the supervision of exercise testing when a medical presence is required.
- Provide clinical support and cardiac expertise to staff within the Cardiometabolic Health and Exercise laboratory and assist in the provision of other clinical cardiovascular services as needed.
- Participate in the design, execution and control of multiple health science laboratory projects or research studies and assist with analysis.
- Provide supervision and support to students who are engaging in clinical research within the Institute.
- Participate in the design, execution and control of multiple health science laboratory projects or research studies.
- Assist with cardiac imaging data research and analysis procedures.
- Perform critical analyses of literature relevant to cardiac imaging research and assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops.

**Skills and Experience**:
You will have:

- A Doctoral or medical qualification in the relevant discipline area or equivalent qualifications or research experience.
- Subspecialist training (fellowship or equivalent) in advanced cardiac imaging, specifically echocardiography and certification in cardiac MRI as per the Conjoint Committee for Certification in Cardiac MRI, RANZCR and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ).
- An understanding of research areas related to cardiac imaging (echocardiogram and cardiac MRI), exercise and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
- A deep knowledge of the clinical guidelines for the reporting of echocardiography and cardiac MRI.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability and flexibility to multi-task and coordinate several complex research projects at the same time, working with constantly changing deadlines and priorities, without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to take initiative and to improve and enhance existing systems and procedures.
- A high level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people at a variety of levels internal and external to the Institute.
- Demonstrated ability to be a proactive team member and contribute to team development and work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
