**About the role**

This is a **permanent full-time** position, working **35 hours per week** (between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday) and is located at the **Nowra Administration Building**.

**Duties**

Reporting directly to the Tourism Investments & Events Specialist, the focus of this position is to:

- Receive and interpret advice in relation to events, demonstrate a high level of initiative and analysis to manage the permit process for events held on council owned and managed land.
- Manage, elevate and mitigate risks for council (including reputation), as events hold a high degree of community interest, impact, and political sensitivity.
- Participate in policy creation and improvement.
- Exhibit positive behaviours by showing initiative, taking responsibility for own actions, and referring issues of ethics and probity.
- Negotiate and make decisions regarding community events.
- Work across all directorates of Council to engage and enable events in our region with direct responsibility to discuss, negotiate and collaborate for positive event outcomes.

**Skills & Experience**

To be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

- TAFE certificate in Administration or equivalent and two years relevant work experience.
- TAFE certificate in Event Planning or equivalent and three years relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated high level administrative skills.
- Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to work independently and balance competing workloads and deliver within demanding deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate positive outcomes and foster positive advocacy in complex situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in the Local Government context.
- Class C Driver’s License.
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
