**About the team**

SafeWork NSW is the state’s workplace health and safety regulator. Our focus is to reduce work related fatalities, serious injuries, and illnesses by securing compliance with work health and safety and associated legislation and improving the safety culture in NSW workplaces.

**About the role**

As an Inspector in Investigations & Emergency Response you will be responsible for undertaking SafeWork’s incident response, investigations, enforceable undertakings and state emergency functions.

You will work with NSW employers to assist them in creating and maintaining workplaces where their employees return home safely each day.
- You will provide advice regarding safe work practices and how to comply with work health and safety legislation.
- You will conduct workplace visits and investigations into workplace incidents, injuries and fatalities and where required, provide specialist advice regarding compliance with WHS legislation.
- Maximise business outcomes by developing a high performing culture through coaching and mentoring of team members and enabling behaviours aligned with corporate values
- Foster and maintain professional working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including those across the Better Regulation Division (BRD) to facilitate desired outcomes and achieve business unit objectives

To be successful, you will have:

- Equivalent relevant qualifications and experience in work health and safety and relevant industry experience i.e. statutory investigations, or the administration of regulatory frameworks
- Strong communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders to improve regulatory outcomes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well established resilience skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team
- High level written communication skills and an ability to understand comprehensive and/or technical reports
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a timely manner
- Solid knowledge and use of technology

**Benefits**
- Work a 38-hour working week, including some weekends, and participate in the After-Hours Emergency Response Service

- Undertake the 12-month New Inspector Training Program (NITP) for the awarding of the Diploma in Government (Workplace Inspection). This intensive program is delivered by our Registered Training Organisation and combines mandatory components of induction, class training, online learning, completion of set assessments and tasks, and extensive on-the-job field training with regular travel throughout Sydney Metropolitan
- Complete formal training and assessments for the awarding of the Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection) within 12 months of obtaining the Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection)

**Essential requirements**
- Ability to travel and work and out of usual business hours
- Regular travel throughout Regional NSW with occasional Sydney Metropolitan or interstate travel
- Hold a NSW ‘C’ class drivers' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employment
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- Satisfactory medical assessment capacity in regard to physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role
- Undertake the 12-month New Inspector Training Program (NITP) for the awarding of the Diploma in Government (Workplace Inspection).
