**The Organisation**

The Department has a clear purpose: to capitalise on Queensland’s resources for sustainable economic prosperity and just outcomes.

This particular Department is working with their stakeholders to modernise land administration and optimise the use of land resources within the state. They continue to use data to drive innovation and unlock the potential, by increasing private sector investment in georesources.

**The Role**

As the Manager of Resources you will provide specialist technical advice on exploration and development activities related to Queensland’s conventional and unconventional petroleum and gas resources.

Your technical expertise, analysis and advice will be critical in shaping the Queensland Government’s strategy for developing its petroleum resources, including shale gas, tight gas and coal seam gas. Your advice and recommendations will help underpin government decisions on tenure administration, as well as legislative and policy initiatives aimed at furthering the exploration, development and management of Queensland’s petroleum and gas resources.

Broadly, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the technical assessment of exploration and production tenure and prepare briefings, reports and submissions for a range of clients including industry, the Minister and executive management. Importantly, you will engage, influence and negotiate with industry on regulatory and development matters whilst representing the department in industry and consumer forums.

Your communication skills will foster effective engagement with the petroleum and gas industry and your leadership and management skills will be critical to ensuring the provision of quality, timely and professional advice by your team of technical petroleum engineers and geologists.

**The Person**

To be considered for this role you previous experience in petroleum exploration, production and operations, including the commercial assessment of petroleum reservoirs will be highly regarded. A formal qualification in Petroleum Engineering is highly regarded.
