- The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW._
- This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional and high-risk civil patients.A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health professionals are dedicated to providing care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care._

**What you'll be doing**

The Aboriginal Mental Health Trainee will do and meet the requirements of the Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) degree. Under supervision and as part of the multidisciplinary team, the trainee will participate in the development and implementation of Aboriginal Mental Health services to promote the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal people within the criminal justice and forensic mental health systems. In addition, this position will undertake clinical placements across a number of forensic and custodial mental health service settings to enable the development of the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to be a knowledgeable and skilled mental health worker

- A commitment to the improvement of health care of Aboriginal peoples in contact with the criminal justice system
- An understanding of the health needs of Aboriginal peoples in contact with the criminal justice system
- The ability to build successful networks with the Aboriginal communities in NSW, and with community networks in this region
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook
