As part of the Australian Government’s $362 million Trailblazer Universities Program, the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) has recently been named one of Australia’s Trailblazer universities to accelerate growth in space manufacturing and lead a new research hub of national priority.

In a giant step for the Australian space sector, the new Innovative Launch, Automation, Novel Materials, Communications and Hypersonics (iLAuNCH) program, led by UniSQ in partnership with the Australian National University and the University of South Australia, will ensure Australian space expertise grows well into the future, providing new jobs and boosting the economy.

As a member of our Institute for Advanced Engineering and Space Sciences, you will work alongside a team of highly skilled researchers who work closely with national and international aerospace companies to deliver cutting-edge technologies, industry solutions and knowledge at the forefront of discovery.

**Who you are**

We are seeking an experienced researcher with a passion for geopolymers research to work actively with industry partners to build space manufacturing capability in Australia. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders. You will also enjoy working as a member of a small, collaborative team that exudes an entrepreneurial culture.

**What you'll do**

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will play a key role in this cutting-edge project by undertaking activities related to the rocket launch project. This will include:

- producing high quality outputs including quality research publications within the area of geopolymers.
- initiating, developing, and leading research projects related to the testing of geopolymer launch pads manufactured with sustainably sourced materials.

**What will help you succeed**

Together with your relevant doctoral or master’s qualification, you will have:

- demonstrated professional experience and/or research expertise in civil, mechanical, materials or chemical engineering.
- experience in engaging in research that provides the opportunity to collaborate with others, attracts funding to support research, advances knowledge, and engages with industry.
- industry connections and an excellent track record in working with industry partners.
- project management experience and excellent time management skills in order to meet project milestones and deliverables.
- excellent workshop and laboratory skills as well as engineering design skills for the design of experiments, data analysis and modelling.

**Salary**: Total remuneration range $119,401 to $141,128 pa (includes salary range of $100,888 to $119,246 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
