Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Principal Registrar provides leadership to the registry team and oversees the management of all registry functions including listing and coordination of patient hearings, provision of quality customer service to patients and other stakeholders, the rostering of members, executing statutory functions under the Act and maintenance of the statutory register. The Principal Registrar works closely with and develops effective relationships with stakeholders in managing the Tribunal's state-wide hearing function and is a member of the Tribunal's governance group.

**Accountabilities**:
As a Principal Registrar, your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Strategically planning and managing the Tribunal's state-wide hearing program to fulfil the Tribunal's statutory functions, including:

- Establish and manage an effective and efficient schedule for Tribunal sittings;
- Manage the allocation and rostering of Tribunal members;
- Establish and monitor effective policies and procedures for delivering registry functions;
- Case management, co-ordination and scheduling of hearings;
- Preparation and analysis of hearings statistics and performance reports;
- Quality assurance and maintenance of the Tribunal's statutory register; and
- Production and distribution of Tribunal determinations and Orders to the appropriate parties.
- Executing the statutory functions of the Principal Registrar in accordance with the Mental Health Act 2014 and overseeing the performance of registry staff in the execution of these functions.
- Managing and providing leadership to registry staff, including, the development of a culture consistent with public sector values, the implementation of best practice HR policies and procedures, management of complaints, and providing employees with access to safe systems of work.
- Participating in the Tribunal's strategic and business planning including the identification of emerging issues and trends, the establishment of quality standards, and the management of risk.
- Representing the Tribunal at a high level, in a range of settings and in particular maintaining effective relationships with the Department of Health and stakeholders from public health services.
- Conducting research and investigations, preparing reports and making detailed recommendations to the President and Chief Executive Officer on a range of complex issues related to the operation and performance of the Tribunal.
