Working in the Environment Data and Analysis Branch you will be part of a team that provides geospatial capability and supports the Department through the delivery of spatial data and analysis for evidence-based policy and decision making.

**The Job**
We are looking for dynamic, highly motivated remote sensing analysts who will, as part of a multi-disciplinary team:

- provide leadership and project management in the development of automated vegetation change detection processes using remotely sensed data,
- provide project leadership and well-developed communication skills to develop robust workflows that support decision making and reporting,
- undertake expert interpretation of remotely sensed data to produce scientifically defendable results,
- provide expertise to the team in the management of remotely sensed data, including metadata management, and publishing and sharing data appropriately,
- proactively maintain positive working relationships with data providers and stakeholders.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the production and manipulation of remotely sensed data using Remote Sensing and GIS software programs and languages (e.g. Python, R etc).
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the analysis of remotely sensed data, including the interpretation of results.
- Knowledge and experience in validation of the spatial data to produce scientifically defendable results.
- Understand the development life cycle of remotely sensed data products, from preprocessing, analysis and documentation, metadata and publishing.
- Knowledge and/or experience in two or more of the following will be an advantage:

- Geospatial analysis through the compilation and modelling of a range of environmental datasets.
- Experience in using high performance computing infrastructure to undertake processing and analysis of remotely sensed data.
- Experience in modelling and analysis of time series satellite imagery.
- Experience using Web GIS (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online) for data management, distribution, and visualisation.
- Experience developing scripts for analytics, modelling and/or visualisation purposes to deliver insights (i.e. Python, R).

**Skills and capabilities**
- Demonstrated understanding of geospatial data and experience using Remote Sensing and GIS software and systems (e.g., ESRI suite, Python, R etc).
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to assess complex information and contribute to the design and development of innovative, sustainable solutions.
- Capable of working under limited direction to solve problems and deliver high quality geospatial products and services.
- Project management and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads and take responsibility to deliver projects to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to work within teams and foster collaboration, and the ability to develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Well-developed workplace communication skills - oral, written and presentation - including the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders, convey clear information to non

**Desirable Qualifications**
- Degree or Diploma in Remote Sensing, Spatial Sciences, GIS, Geography, or related field, and/or an equivalent level of skills, knowledge, and experience in a professional spatial role.

**Eligibility and other requirements**

**Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
