**About Us**

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand. A leader in the mental health sector, the College works to prepare medical specialists in the field of psychiatry, support and enhance clinical practice, advocate for people affected by mental illness and advise governments on mental health care.

**Position **overview**

This role will work closely with the Branches Policy and Advocacy Advisors and Branch Committees to develop policy positions and associated advocacy campaigns. A focus of the position will be working with the Victorian Branch to continue to build its reputation as the leading voice in psychiatry and mental health in Victoria.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support consultation with the RANZCP Branches and Policy and Advocacy Advisors to build policy positions.
- Maintain productive and harmonious relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare responses/submissions to governments and other relevant processes/inquiries.
- Manage a workplan and liaise closely with colleagues across Branches and the Bi-National policy team.
- Provide policy support to the communications team and assist with media inquiries as required.
- Build effective working relationships with committees made up of expert clinicians and people with lived experience of mental illness

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in policy development, government structures and processes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in an appropriate Health, Social Science, Education, Business or Research discipline
- Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to utilise time efficiently by prioritising a range of tasks.
- ** Eligibility Requirement**:Applicants must be either an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen.
