**About your potential new position**:
Glencore has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal - Environmental Long-Term Planning to join our Regional team, reporting to the Manager - Environment. This is a permanent full-time role based in Brisbane or Mount Isa.

This role will work across all of Glencore’s Zinc Assets Australia sites, including Mount Isa Mines, George Fisher Mine, Lady Loretta Mine, McArthur River Mine, the Copper Refinery and the Port of Townsville.

Your primary purpose will be to provide effective leadership and management for the Environmental Long Term Planning team and function across our Zinc and Copper assets in Australia.

To deliver on that purpose, some of your responsibilities will be:

- Lead and supervise the Environmental Long Term Planning team including supporting employee capability development and promoting a culture to support our vision and guiding principles.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure team members and contract partners are kept safe in the undertaking of their activities.
- Impart accurate and timely information and advice to the HSEC Leadership Team (and Senior Management where required) on all matters relating to Environmental Long-Term Planning.
- Promote and provide support to leadership on proactive Environmental Long Term Planning strategies, plans and targets.
- Steer strategic and project risk assessments inclusive of legal compliance, environmental, health & safety, financial and social risk with the team’s scope.
- Ensure Environmental Authority obligations are known, understood and provide effective operational support.
- Oversee multiple large technical, capital investment, and regulatory studies both directly and as team lead.
- Provide Environment and Closure advice in support of business investment decisions (e.g. M&A due diligence or expansionary project studies).
- Ensure prudent and responsible cost management for Opex and Capex, and Rehabilitation Provision budgets within the Environmental Long Term Planning remit.
- Annual review and update Rehabilitation Cost Estimates for internal Life of Asset planning and Estimated Rehabilitation Cost for regulator.
- Create a positive team culture to sustain quality performance, professional development and a safe working environment.
- Promote and provide support to leadership on proactive Environmental Long Term Planning strategies, plans and targets.

What we expect to learn about you:

- You are tertiary qualified in an appropriate discipline such as Environmental Science.
- Multiple years of experience in the environment field within the mining industry with several years of leadership experience.
- Your authenticity quickly establishes rapport and trust.
- Whilst you can see the strategic implications and opportunities you are also able to keep across the critical details.
- Effective planning and project management skills.
