**_ What is a Shared Services ESD Planning Officer at Hume City Council?_**

Hume City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Shared Services ESD Planning Officer to join the City Planning & Places team.

**_ You will thrive within this multi-faceted role as you _**

The successful applicant will have the ability to;
- Support the Planning teams across three Sustainable Subdivisions Framework Participating Councils in the implementation of the Sustainable Subdivisions Framework.
- Manage and maintain stakeholder partnerships and relationships key to the Sustainable Subdivisions Framework.
- Ensure all communication and administrative functions of the Shared Services ESD Planning Officer are effectively undertaken in a timely manner.
- Manage the shared position's responsibilities equitably between all participating councils with a high level of autonomy.

You will also be a clear communicator, have a passion for helping people succeed and building relationships through trust and respect. You need to be approachable, self-motivated, patient, highly organised and enjoy achieving results. Key selection criteria includes but is not limited to;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the administrative processes and procedures of a local government building control office or substantial relevant experience
- An understanding of building and development legislation and approvals system operating in Victoria.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare written correspondence, documentation and reports for diverse audiences.
- Ability to gain co-operation of, and communicate both verbally and in written form with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Current drivers licence.

**_ Key responsibilities and duties_**
- Support the Planning teams across the three SSF Participating Councils in the implementation of the SSF trial through
- Manage and maintain stakeholder partnerships and relationships key to the Sustainable Subdivisions Framework
- Ensure all communication and administrative functions, including reporting back to participating councils, the Victorian Planning Authority and the Municipal Association of Victoria are effectively undertaken in a timely manner.
- Manage the shared position's responsibilities equitably between all participating councils with a high level of autonomy.
- Prepare reports on activities for the participating Councils, the Victorian Planning Authority and CASBE.
- Tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following areas with several years of subsequent relevant experience: environmental engineering, sustainable design, land use planning, architecture or allied disciplines.
- Demonstrated expertise in ESD assessment, including specific experience in residential subdivisions.
- Knowledge of the Victorian planning system, including the Victorian Planning Provisions, Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Subdivision Act 1988.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices of integrated planning for environmental, social and economic development.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills and the ability to present to and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve a mutually agreeable outcome.
- Understanding of local government processes.
