**Position Information**:
Hurlstone Agricultural High School has an enrolment of 1008 students in 2023, including 2 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and 755 English as an additional language or dialect language students. Hurlstone Agricultural High School is the only NSW Government fully selective, coeducational, agricultural, boarding high school. It is located in Glenfield, 36 km south west of the Sydney central business district.
The school nurtures the whole child in an inclusive environment where high potential and gifted learners are known, valued, and cared for. The school has a strong commitment to implementing evidence-based wellbeing practices and has undertaken a recent evaluation of the school’s student wellbeing program. Students give back to the community in numerous ways including extensive Creative and Performing Arts, Sports, and Agricultural Programs, Student Representative Council, Interact, Student Union, Enviro Club, debating, mentoring, and other leadership talent development programs highlighted by an exceptional student leadership team.

The school is supported by the Parents and Citizens' Association, Boarder Parent Welfare, and alumni network. Our school community expectation is to provide dynamic, creative, innovative, collaborative, and differentiated teaching and learning experiences. Our staff foster connected partnerships to maximise student growth and attainment.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated ability to lead staff collaboration in developing effective teaching and learning programs and assessment practices that address the learning needs of high potential and gifted students from diverse backgrounds.

2. Ability to develop authentic relationships with key stakeholders to improve the learning and wellbeing outcomes of high-potential and gifted students, and to reduce the impact of disadvantage.

3. Demonstrated data literacy skills to lead and support colleagues and faculties in data analysis and implement data-driven, evidence-based teaching initiatives to ensure every student is engaged and challenged to continue to learn.

4. Ability to monitor, implement and evaluate professional learning programs and support the development of staff to improve student growth and attainment.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
