Joining the Queensland Revenue Office (QRO) as Assistant Commissioner presents a unique opportunity to contribute to Queensland' s economic and social wellbeing by working in an organisation that collects state taxes and royalty, administers fines, recovers debts, and pays grants to support the delivery of vital government services.
You will be an integral part of the senior executive team working alongside esteemed professionals, including the Commissioner, two Deputy Commissioners, the Chief Revenue Counsel, and two other Assistant Commissioners. In your first three months, your primary focus will be establishing key relationships within the management team and among your peers, laying the foundation for collaborative success. Critical to this will be developing your understanding of the business you operate in and being positioned to actively contribute to QRO's strategic planning for 2024-25 and beyond.
As a pivotal member of the executive team, you'll lead the client services function, overseeing more than 200 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) across processing, assessment, and client operations. You'll encounter challenges and opportunities for improvement while navigating resource constraints, ensuring client satisfaction in a high-volume transactional environment.QRO prides itself on being a digitally led organisation using data-driven insights, consistently investing in leading technology and systems. As such, you'll be at the forefront of significant digital initiatives relating to QRO's online portal and telephony systems.
Success in this role hinges on your strategic ability to drive efficiency, exercise sound judgment, and navigate the political landscape adeptly while driving a culture of collaboration and participation. You'll be part of a supportive environment, benefiting from regular meetings with your manager and ample autonomy to execute your responsibilities. The cohesive, stable executive team provides a conducive atmosphere for growth and collaboration.
Above all, we seek individuals who are empathetic to the needs of clients and have demonstrated experience leading client-facing teams. Experience within a regulatory environment would be highly valued, but most important will be your experience leading client-facing teams.
