**Purpose of Position**
Judge Kendall is the Court’s National Migration Judge. His Honour sits predominantly in migration proceedings. His Honour is also the Case Management Judge for all general federal law and migration matters in the Perth Registry of the FCFCOA.
Judge Kendall’s Associate holds a central role in His Honour’s chambers. They are charged with assisting His Honour with the day-to-day management of His Honour’s chambers and the other duties undertaken by His Honour in his role as National Migration Judge and Case Management Judge.
This position does not involve any exposure to family law matters. His Honour does not hear family law matters.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
- Undertake complex legal research and legal writing as required by Judge Kendall;
- Assist Judge Kendall with the preparation and delivery of judgments;
- Manage the conduct of Court proceedings, including the transcription of orders, ensuring the orderly conduct of matters and general Courtroom management;
- Day-to-day management of chambers including supervision of His Honour’s Deputy Associate, responding to enquiries and managing the Associate inbox on behalf of Judge Kendall;
- Assist Judge Kendall with the coordination of the Court’s National Migration Docket and case allocation;
- Liaise with the Court’s National Migration Registrars and National Migration Team as required;
- Assist Judge Kendall with the management of cases and, as required, enter data into the Court’s case management systems to reflect the outcomes of relevant Court events; and
- Other duties, as required.

- Ability to undertake complex legal research and legal writing;
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including tact, discretion, initiative and the ability to communicate effectively with members of the judiciary, the legal profession, the public and other court staff;
- Demonstrated organisational and leadership skills, including the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure in a team environment;
- The ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities and participate in collective work practices; and
- The ability to undertake interstate travel when required.
