**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**

The Waste and Recycling Branch manages the strategic direction and delivery of waste and recycling services within the municipality through the provision of contracted services, program delivery and policy development.

The Manager Commercial Waste and Recycling Services is responsible for leading a team of approximately five staff. This position is expected to demonstrate strong leadership, direction and people management competencies, with appropriate technical expertise, in order to drive the required business outcomes and services. Client satisfaction with the services provided and cost effectiveness are key to measuring the Teams achievement.

The Manager will work collaboratively with others across the organisation, taking an active role in contributing to the organisation’s imperative of ensuring effective governance, organisational and financial management through instilling effective strategic and business planning, and high standards of financial, asset and people management.

- Tertiary qualification and/or significant experience and proven achievement in the provision of cleaning/waste or related services;
- Strong team player, with the ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence and sound judgement whilst collaborating and cooperating on decisions and initiatives;
- A record of achievement and innovation in people management and leadership in a dynamic and political environment, and creating an environment focussed on staff engagement, accountability and decision making;
- Highly developed analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive changes and implement innovations;
- Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and maintain business plans and associated budgetary and financial management requirements;
- High level contract and project management skills with the ability to scope and manage activities for major municipal services that are of high quality, timely and meet budget;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
