Working as part of Student Services, the primary purpose of the Student Adviser role is to be the first and primary point of contact for enquiries for current and prospective students and visitors to the University. The position provides student support and course advice, information, and administration services within the scope of the Student Service Network. In addition to maximising first point resolution and a case management approach for complex queries, the adviser will work closely with divisional and Faculty colleagues.

The Student Adviser is required to maintain up-to-date knowledge and provide advise to students across a variety of university processes and procedures and student areas which may include, course advice (within a defined scope to ensure expertise can be maintained), admissions and enrolments, assessments, graduations, timetables, financial and student support mechanisms and areas of student experience lifecycle. Student Advisers will also be expected to develop and maintain a level of expertise within a cohort/discipline area.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Providing advice and assistance and/or referral to the specialist and support services to support the health and well-being of students.
- Assisting and participating in, Student Service Network initiatives and projects, and resourcing of orientation and Open Day activities.
- Creating practical, simple and accessible solutions to student enquiries and problems after considering multiple perspectives
- Consulting with available sources to gather relevant information on student services and seek the expertise and advice of other people as appropriate
- Contributing feedback and suggestions and identify situations in which change is needed to improve student services policy and practice
- Recognising the importance of teamwork and of effective communication amongst team members and building rapport within immediate team in ways that are respectful and inclusive of others
- Clarifying expectations and responding promptly to student requests, queries, or complaints to ensure student needs are met to agreed standards and timelines
- Building productive relationships with a diverse range of existing stakeholders and actively seek to maintain positive relationships

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
- A combination of relevant work experience and/or education and training
- Experience in a high-volume front-line customer service environment and broad knowledge in administrative fields
- Experience using multiple systems
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
- Highly developed communication skills, with an ability to be clear and concise in the dissemination of information and advice.
- Capacity to quickly develop knowledge and understanding of the University’s structure, its operations and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to show initiative.
