About the role
The purpose of the Social Worker casual role is to provide on call, after hours and weekend clinical emergency services within thirty (30) minutes of a call, to Ipswich Hospital. The position will provide high quality Social Work services within an acute multidisciplinary environment to ensure that emergency clinical services are provided to patients and their families under specified referral criteria related to crises and trauma to contribute to patient and family centred practice outcomes.
The clinical practice requirements of the position will require a high level of practice experience across multiple specialities. The position will be a part of a pool of casual Social Workers required to undertake a minimum number of after hour shifts during week days and/or weekends over an annual period.
About you
- Demonstrated competence and experience in delivering social work clinical services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice Standards using well developed psychosocial assessments and intervention skills to enhance patient care provision and increasing independent decision making reflecting evidence informed practice and active ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrated competence with skills and clinical knowledge in crisis/trauma management, acute care and delivering of core social work functions in the areas of child protection, family and sexual violence, case leadership, disability care including impaired capacity, critical incident management, sudden bereavement and grief and multidisciplinary team work
- Demonstrated competence in professional clinical practice across multiple specialities, adherence to defined service standards and the management of complex patient/client care, whilst exercising a degree of independence and professional decision making accessing clinical practice supervision and guidance as required.
- Demonstrated effective written communication skills including psychosocial assessments, correspondence with service providers and clinical reports and the provision of practice within the medico legal requirements.
- Demonstrated competence in communication, negotiation, consultation, advocacy and interpersonal skills to be independent in effective problem solving including conflict resolution and to work cooperatively with other professionals and contribute positively in all interactions in the workplace at all levels.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
