**About Toowoomba Grammar School**

Toowoomba Grammar School was founded in 1875. It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The School’s campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

**About the Position**

TGS Teachers play a pivotal role in designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned with our learning philosophies. Your expertise will contribute to cultivating an environment that empowers students to become confident, independent thinkers. You will collaborate with a supportive academic team and engage with various stakeholders, including parents and fellow educators.

The Head of Pastoral Care is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day and strategic aspects of Pastoral Care in the Senior School. Reporting to the Head of Senior School, this role focuses on creating a supportive environment for Senior School students, ensuring their well-being, autonomy, and resilience. The Head of Pastoral Care collaborates closely with key stakeholders to enhance the academic journey and overall well-being of students.

As the Head of Pastoral Care you will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:

- **Educational Leadership and Expertise**: Tertiary qualifications in education and post-graduate qualifications in education and/or leadership. Expertise in integrating pastoral care within the curriculum to support holistic student development.
- **Operational Management and Organisational Skills**: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain a dynamic, action-oriented approach. Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret educational data from various sources.
- **Communication and Relationship Building**: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies. Ability to work confidently with people at all levels, including influencing, networking, negotiating, counselling, and mediating.
- **Student Wellbeing and Character Education**: Create a nurturing environment for Senior School students to thrive, ensuring their well-being and academic journey. Ability to lead initiatives in pastoral care, character education, and student involvement. Expertise in fostering connections, respect, and student engagement.
- **Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making**: Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to boys' education. Ability to provide guidance, leadership, and support to staff, fostering a culture underpinned by virtuous behaviours, service, and ethical decision-making. Ability to lead investigations involving student behaviour in accordance with principles of natural justice and procedural fairness.

- **Teaching Expertise**: Demonstrated proficiency in designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned with Queensland and Australian curriculums. A deep understanding of effective pedagogical practices and the ability to tailor teaching methods to diverse learning styles and student needs.
- **Student Engagement and Motivation**: Track record of motivating and enthusing students, particularly boys, in their learning journey. Ability to create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that fosters active participation, critical thinking, and a passion for learning.
