Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Finance Officer for a 12-month assignment with potential extension in Geelong or Richmond.
**About the Team**
As part of Policy, Advice and Research Division, the Research and Evaluation Branch is responsible for ensuring that NDIA policies, practices and priorities are informed by trustworthy and robust evidence. The branch aims to improve evidence-based decision making within the NDIA and finds solutions to high priority issues, shaping disability research to maximise its impact for the NDIS.
The branch is accountable for collating and conducting research, evidence, best practice and lived experiences for decision-making. This includes evaluating key NDIA programs and initiatives, ensuring staff are able to find, generate and utilise evidence for decision-making and translating our knowledge of research to our customers and stakeholders.
The Evidence for Action team share research in accessible and easy to use formats designed to help integrate best available evidence into work. They also support participants to make informed decisions through decision guides, fact sheets or other forms of communication.

**About the Role**
The EL1 Assistant Director Practice leadership (Labour Hire) is accountable under broad direction to undertake very complex work that delivers quality outcomes within the Research and Evaluation functions of the NDIA.
The position will exercise a considerable degree of independence and engage in very complex problem solving and issues management within the Research and Evaluation functions. The position will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to produce high level policy advice and operational support.
The EL1 Assistant Director practice leadership will coordinate a new function which focuses on building capability and changes to practice which are underpinned by the evidence-base and best practice approaches to customer service. This may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the NDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”.

**Responsibilities may include but are not limited to**:

- Use expertise in knowledge translation, implementation science, and behavioural insights (individual and organisational behaviour change) to support Agency projects related to workforce development and education in practice.
- Design and lead the development of a practice leadership approach that can be used by the Agency to create a more consistence, evidence-informed workforce. This will include tools, resources and networks which can be used to support front line capability uplift.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based approaches into policy and practice.
- Build and maintain relationships across the Agency.
- Maintain project records using research software or platforms.
- Prepare and present internal reports including slide-pack summaries for stakeholders and communicating recommendations to stakeholders based upon the findings.
- Take on management responsibilities as and when required
- Promote the role of the Research and Evaluation Branch

**Key skills required for role**
- Qualifications in disability, allied health, public health or related discipline (PhD or post grad qualifications preferred).
- Expertise in behavioural insights, workforce development and knowledge translation preferred.
